Bible Baptist Church statement of faith

Here at Bible Baptist Church of Goshen Ohio (BBC), we believe in the autonomy of the local church.  We praise God for His saving and sustaining grace and commit to gospel-centric ministry where Jesus Christ is lifted-up as the supreme head of the church.  BBC believes that the church is a congregation of born-again, baptized believers who are committed to the Ministry of Reconciliation as defined and described by the Great Commission.

BBC believes in the eternal deity of a triune God comprised of the Father, His Son, and the person of the Holy Spirit, each co-equal in power and each deserving of man’s adoration and praise.  BBC believes that Jesus is the Son of God, who being sent by the Father, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life as the God-man, was crucified and resurrected bodily from the grave becoming the substitutionary, sacrificial atonement for the sins of the world.  We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells each believer to guide, instruct, seal, and empower the believer for godly living and service.

BBC believes that salvation is in Christ alone, by grace, through faith.  We believe in baptism by immersion, after salvation.  We believe that baptism is not only a public testimony for the regenerate believer, but that baptism serves as spiritual reflection supporting the reality of newness of life in Christ.

BBC believes that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired, infallible Word of God and as such is the sole authority for faith and holy living. We believe that God’s Word is complete and consider the King James Version as the preserved text for English speaking persons.

BBC believes in the premillennial, bodily return of Jesus when those that are dead in Christ will receive new bodies and in a blink of an eye be united physically with God.  We believe that those living with the earnest of salvation will then immediately be caught up, receiving their new bodies as they are united with God and all believers.

BBC believes that humans were created in the image of God and that Adam and Eve fell into sin in the Garden of Eden thereby passing this sin-nature on to all mankind.  We believe the consequences of sin is spiritual death and that absent having faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, man is condemned to Hell.   We believe Hell is a literal place originally created for the devil and his fallen angels but that those that refuse everlasting life in Christ are destined for this same place.

BBC believes that all those that trust in Jesus Christ are recipients of eternal life, and though sin may interrupt the joy of fellowship with God, salvation cannot be forfeited.
